Green Blaze
Translated as “Green Blaze” by Miryam Sas
Those I see first   come noisily closer descend so many green stairs   pass by that place    heading further on    packed into a narrow space    partway through little by little they harden and become a mountain    when they move in the barley field a wave of light forms a furrow and continues on a forest area overflows with thick sap-water and cannot mix in    a larch tree with short hair   a snail that paints with care    a spider stretches out
electric wires like fog    everything revolves from green to deeper green they are in the milk bottle on the table    faces crushed they bend over and are reflected   slide around an apple    sometimes look as though they are crumbling every time they intercept light beams   in the street it’s a blind girl playing by crossing through the shadow of the rings of the sun.

I close the window in a hurry    danger is coming to me   outside a fire breaks out   a green blaze beautifully burning rises high while circling the outer edge of the earth    and in the end squeezed by the single narrow line of the horizon it goes out

The weight of my body leaves me    returns to the hollow of oblivion    here people lose their minds   being sad or speaking to each other has no meaning   the eye is dyed green   belief becomes uncertain and seeing irritates me

Who is it blindfolding me from behind? Plunge me down into slumber

Translated as “Green Flames” by Sawako Nakayasu
I first see them   loudly approaching   descending numerous green stairs   pass by look away   crowded into a small space   while gradually hardening into a mound their movement makes waves of light furrow through the wheat field   a thick overflowing fluid makes it impossible to stir the woodlands   larch trees with short hair   snail that paints carefully   a spider spins electric wires like a mist    everything rotates from green to deeper green   they are inside the milk bottle on the kitchen table   are reflected crouching with their faces flattened   sliding around an apple   they seem to crumble as they block off shafts of light   in the street a blind girl plays by ducking under the shadows of the sun’s rings.

I hurry to shut the window   danger has come right up to me   a fire blazes outside the beautifully burning green flames spread high, circling the outskirts of the earth and in the end they dwindle, disappear as a single thin line of the horizon

My weight takes leave of me   drags me back to the depths of oblivion   people are mad here   there is no point in feeling sorrow nor in speaking   eyes are dyed green believing grows uncertain and looking enrages me

Who blindfolds me from behind? Shove me into sleep.
